Lothaire Rupt is a twenty-something postman who was cursed with having to work in the city of Dewborough, New Hampshire, the rainiest place in America. Lothaire is grumpy and hates his life, having to deal with morons who don't know how to write adresses and people who are just plain rude.
He lives at the edge of the town, in a small house. He has a truck to deliver mail, but it (of course) never ever works, so he has to take his bike, even in the oh-so-common downpour. He is the only postman in the entire town of 400 people.
